College Admissions:
AI, ROI, and DI...Oh my!
Two nationally respected admissions experts and the
authors of The Truth about College Admission, Rick Clark (Georgia Tech) and Brennan Barnard (The Forest School), have a candid conversation about navigating the college admission process. With insight from both the college and high school perspectives, they will help you better understand how decisions are made, reduce stress at home, and support your student in making thoughtful, informed choices about college. This is a practical evening for families ready to think clearly and invite the honest conversation that holds families together through application season and the years that follow.
WINTER/SPRING 2026
GROWING UP MINDFUL:
Calm & Resilience at Every State
Drawing from his extensive work in mindfulness-based interventions and contemporary psychology, Dr. Christopher Willard will share practical, evidence-based tools for students and adults to cultivate presence, resilience, and emotional well-being in our fast-paced, digitally connected world. Dr. Willard will offer accessible strategies to reduce stress, strengthen attention, and foster greater compassion from his years of clinical practice and teaching.
LOVER TO LEARN:
Early Education in an AI Driven World
Isabelle Hau believes that all learning is relational. At a time when the crisis of connection is a nation-wide phenomenon, her work reminds us that our brains are wired for connection and how we love and care for our littlest learners has an impact on their curiosity and growth.
Her recent book, Love to Learn, argues that strong, loving relationships are the foundation for healthy brain development, resilience, and lifelong learning. As technical tasks become more driven by AI, relational intelligence (RQ) will become ever more crucial for our children in both social and academic settings. Ms. Hau will share her blueprint for relational learning in the early years and beyond.

SKILLS FOR A SUCESSFUL COLLEGE TRANSITION
Your student has spent four years developing the academic chops to succeed in college. Soon, they’ll be on their own - structuring their own schedule, balancing assignments and navigating social and extracurricular activities. Nearly all freshman experience overwhelm at some point facing these new expectations. With a focus on essential executive function skills, learning specialists from the Schwab Learning Center at CHC will instruct parents of high school seniors how to prepare their students for the big leap to college and independence.
AI & DEMOCRACY
We are witnessing in real time how AI is changing the way we connect, collaborate, grow and learn. AI literacy curriculums teach students how to decipher hallucinations and deep fakes, how to distinguish fact from fiction, and how to be ethical decision-makers. For all of the problems linked to social media around child safety, mental health and democracy, AI has been described as “social media on steroids.” With social cooperation at the heart of democracy, if our youngest citizens fill a social void with AI what impact will that have on our democracy going forward? Stanford Law Professor Nate Persily will share his thoughts on how AI will impact democracy.
FALL 2025
DREAM SCHOOL:
Finding the College that is Right for you
Attending college has long been a rite of passage for millions of teens. But as perceptions of higher education have changed, that well-worn path has become more and more stressful for students and their families. New York Times best-selling author, Jeff Selingo, reveals how to assemble a meaningful list of colleges that will inspire students’ futures but that can also lower the stress of the application process.
Selingo’s new book, Dream School, suggests that the name of the school matters less than you think, explains why some families are choosing value over prestige, and describes how to make sure the degree really pays off.
THE PARENT PLAYBOOK:
Improving Family Dialogue
Our students feel intense pressure to achieve and often feel overwhelmed by school, parents and peers. Parents, no matter how much we love and want to support our kids, are often at a loss with how to truly communicate and guide them without inflicting more pressure. Dr Rona Hu, inspired by her days as a resident at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) where faculty members used theatrical vignettes to help young doctors learn how to interact with difficult patients, has created a theater troupe comprised mostly of medical professionals who write and perform skits to help parents and students navigate challenging emotions and relationships. Come watch, learn and have fun as Dr Hu and her troupe take you through some role-plays to demonstrate how we can have deeper and more impactful communication with our children.
HELPING KIDS THRIVE IN THE AGE OF AI
How will our students interact with AI – in the classroom and at home? We’ve learned from neuroscience that attention, cognition and learning thrive when there is belonging and connection. As more educational content is channeled through AI, we’ve yet to define its parameters to keep learning centered around teaching. Our speakers study and write about generative AI’s role in education and observe how it is poised to replace human connection as more youth turn to it for learning, companionship and therapy. Our speakers will share recommendations that define and support engaged learning in the age of AI.
COUNTED OUT:
Math is Power
Celebrate National Math Story-Telling Day with a special community-wide screening of Counted Out: Math is Power. This provocative film is brought to you by a director of the award-winning documentary, Race to Nowhere, and examines how perceptions of math shape power, equity, and opportunity in today's data-driven world. With education under attack and misinformation on the rise, math is more than just numbers – it’s a language for reason, a foundation for truth, and a tool for democracy. Math literacy shapes everything from opportunity to civic life and a growing movement calls to reimagine math as a shared language for building a healthier, more informed future.

Weaving together the latest breakthroughs in scientific research with anecdotes from extensive clinical practice, Dr. Ramsey will demonstrate paths to optimize mental health and care for our extraordinary, modern brains.
