MODERN MASCULINITY

Raising a Stand-Up Guy Not a Stand-By Guy

Author, educator, filmmaker and activist Jackson Katz returns to Common Ground to encourage us to help our sons redefine masculinity. In the 21st century, society's understanding of masculinity is changing, redefining culture, and challenging long-held beliefs. Katz will provide essential strategies for guiding our sons in becoming principled, confident young men and for helping our daughters navigate this evolving landscape. He supports parents in encouraging the development of balanced, fulfilling and realistic masculine identities, which move beyond the portrayals of maleness that dominate our media and are harmful to both genders. Katz will discuss the role of boys and men can play amidst the #MeToo movement and shine a much needed light on how this momentum is a positive step forward for all.

Jackson Katz, PhD, has long been a major figure and thought leader in the growing global movement of men working to promote gender equality and prevent gender violence.
