THE POWER OF MINDFUL PARENTING

Daniel Siegel, M.D.

What does mindfulness mean and how can we apply it to family life? According to Harvard/UCLA trained psychiatrist Daniel Siegel, it is a powerful tool that parents may use to transform family relationships, deepen communication and even put an end to dysfunctional patterns of behavior.

Dr. Siegel, a pioneer in the fields of neuroscience and mindfulness, believes two important predictors of a child’s emotional well-being are a parent’s own degree of self-understanding and the strength of the parent/child attachment. He’ll offer us a step-by-step guide to applying the practice of mindfulness in our own lives, with the goals of improving awareness and fostering loving relationships within our families.

Daniel Siegel is an associate clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine and the Executive Director of the Mindsight Institute. He also serves as the Co-Director of the Mindful Awareness Research Center at UCLA. He has authored, or co-authored, several groundbreaking books, including The Developing Mind, The Mindful Brain and Parenting From the Inside Out.
